Examination requirement
To earn the PgMP designation, participants must:
- Secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree, or the global equivalent)
- 48 months of project management experience OR PMP
- 84 months of program management experience within the last 15 years
OR
- Four-year degree
- 48 months of project management experience OR PMP
- 48 months of program management experience within the last 15 years
Steps to Attaining the PgMP Certification
Step 1 – PgMP Application
Step 2 – Panel review
Step 3 – Certification exam (170 multiple-choice questions and you have four hours to complete it).
Examination cost
Non-member: $1,000
Member (PMI): $800 (Membership Fee: $139)
Taking the Exam
The different domains of the PgMP® exam are completed on the same day. The total test time is 4 hours with no breaks in between.

Only 150 of the 170 questions will be graded toward your score. The remaining 20 are test questions and are not graded. The exam is administered by Computer Based Test (CBT)
