Nigeria has produced yet another PMI certified Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP). Chinedu Mbonu recently earned the prestigious certification, (with above target in all 5 domains) making him the 10th resident Nigerian and among the less than 1000 persons globally to be bestowed this certification by Project Management Institute (PMI). With previous certifications in Project Management Professional –PMP (with above target in all domains) and Programme Management Professional (PgMP). He becomes the 5th resident Nigerian and among the respected league of less than 300 persons globally with PMP, PgMP and PfMP.
The Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP) which is the highest ranked project management certification by the Project Management Institute'(PMI) signifies advanced competency in the coordinated management of one or more portfolios to achieve strategic objectives. Portfolio Management is the most effective way to implement strategic initiatives, it bridges the gap between strategy and implementation. Portfolio managers align projects, programs and operations with strategic objectives, investing resources in the right work to deliver the expected value. Organizations with mature project portfolio management practices complete 35 percent more of their programs successfully.
Chinedu is a programme manager for the Conflict Management and Stabilization, Lake Chad Basin/North East Nigeria Portfolio in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and has vast experience in program and project management with over a decade history of working in international development both at the donor and INGO level including Department for International Development (DFID), Cambridge Education, Research Triangular Institute (RTI), ActionAid International Nigeria and Voluntary Service Oversea (VSO). With strong track record in designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating portfolios, programs and projects, he has managed complex and large programs and projects worth over £100m per year mostly in conflict management and stabilisation, Education, Humanitarian, HIV/AIDS, Water and Sanitation, Malaria and other health sectors tackling extreme poverty and lifting Nigerians above the poverty line.
